Greetings,
I'm trying to determine if in fact I have a later model gearbox in my '68
TR250. It has the reverse switch on the side (towards the rear) rather than
on top of the cover. It also has the Neutral/Seatbelt switch, which I believe
came well after 1968. I'm in the process of replacing a broken clutch fork
pin, replacing leaky seals, and considering going through the rest of the box
to check/replace bad bearings, synchro cups, etc.
I'm asking because I see differences in some of the parts on TRF that
breakdown as "TR250 and TR6 up to CD20281" vs. "TR6 after CD20281".
Now I know the CD numbers are the vehicle number, is there a way to determine
from any of the numbers stamped on the gearbox what year it might be or more
correctly what CD## range it would belong to?
Oh, and to be clear this is a non-overdrive gearbox.
Any help is much appreciated.
