Having driven a lot of "clunkers" in my early days of car ownership ( as
though I'm not still driving clunkers) A vibration under acceleration
proved to be the front u-joint on the driveshaft and a vibration during
deceleration was the rear. Not having a lot of thrashing experience with
the IRS, I wonder if it could be an outer u-joint on an axle-shaft? I would
suspect the right side, but don't ask me to explain why... just a feeling.

   Whaaa???
So Bob or whomever cares to help...
I have this friend... yeah, that's it, a friend... This "friend"
tore his IRS apart without marking anything... he tore the shafts apart
completely mixing them up, sandblasted, assembled and painted them. Just
how much trouble is he in and how is he going to resolve my, I mean HIS
problem?
Will balancing the tires while on the car fix it?
