Dwayne---Lots of owners have added a shutoff valve between the heater
inlet water hose and the water outlet at the cylinder head. Using the
same size NPT as the original heater slide valve, screw in the "new"
valve. Use a pipe fitting to connect the two. A short, all-brass
ballcock or gate valve can be purchased from many hardware stores for
this.  Or maybe one of the heater/water valves from the older model
Triumph (TR3?) would be more appropriate?
This can be done without it looking goofy.

As said before, I made this addition many years ago...but never had to
use it!
