Bob,

Yes, I've had brake fade!  Standard pads and rotors and ran out of brakes at
the end of a down-hill stage on a "touring" rally back in '95.  We had to stop
and top-up with petrol during the stage which meant I had to make up time -
consequently I pushed pretty hard on the beautiful mountain stage and ran out
of brakes with about 3km to go.  Fortunately, I was able to use speed, gears
and hand brake to control the final bit.  Scary experience and one that I
haven't fixed as yet.

I've been looking at vented conversions for some time and believe that the
Peugot 505/604 rotors would do the trick.  They're about the right diameter to
stock, has about the same height and would only require a minor scim off the
centre to fit!  Check out www.dba.com.au for the specs (a great web resource).
Has anyone considered these?
