Richard---I replaced my O-rings when the tranny was out, so I can't say
for sure if it can be done in place. 
I did nothing special so far as keeping the new 'rings from leaking. Got
them from TRF, and followed the Bentley proceedure.
 I made a few changes so far as removing the shafts and ball spring
plunger setscrews, with some guidance from Jim Davis, who frequently
contributes to this list.
