Vic---For years, I was under the impression that if the odometer was
correct, that the speed indicator also had to be correct. The owner of
the speedometer shop advised me that this was not necessarily so. He
claims that the needle position gets its information from running in a
magnetic field, whereas the odo gears moves as the result of a direct
drive from the cable. I don't know any f the particulars as to how this
can be rectified, if the two of them don't agree, but apparantly those
who do this for a living know how!

Another way to check if the speedo is correct would be to take the car
to 62 mph in fourth gear. The tach should read 3,000.

(checked it against highway mile markers), but the speedo is a little
shy (checked it against the police dept's portable radar units. Speedo
reads 35mph, radar reads 42mph). Any clues as to what to do, or where to
