Brian,
After recently completing this repair I can tell you the fix can be done
well with the body on. With the rear out there's ample room to do the
repair. You need to make the repair plates described in the TRF pdf (
if you need it just ask, I'm sure I can find it or the list will come up
with the URL ).
A good welder is a must to do the job right. The stud must be welded
firmly in place & the reinforcement plates welded to the original brace.
Make sure the other brackets are checked & reinforced as well.
Sorry I can't help you with the differential maintenance but that's one
area I haven't had to tackle (yet).
