Wiring for engine startup on frame

I would like to start my rebuilt engine while it is on the frame, before the 
body is put back on. I want to sort out any problems while it's easy to get 
to. 

Can anyone point me to a reference that describes how to wire it to do this?

Can/should you use the cars wiring harness or do you custom wire it? I really 
need a good diagram to follow in order to do this, otherwise, I won't attempt 
it.
