Listers,
I've heard several horror stories about the "inner fender" mount conversion and
have to wonder why this kit is still sold? Especially when more practical
alternatives are available. My understanding is that the sheetmetal is just
not able to continually withstand the forces imparted to it, no matter how well
the bracket attachment is reinforced.
I'm quite content with my lever arms with uprated valves. They are one of
those anachronisms of TRs that are part of its character. But whatever we do
to our TRs THE most important aspect, bar none, is consideration of the effect
on the vehicle's safety.
Kind of goes back to what I once said about trying to run with the "fast and
the furious" rice rocket crowd with 30 year old cars. One is likely to only
end up with the "stupid and the dead". TRs have definite limitations. Work
within those limitations and enjoy your TR for what it is.
