Offbrand Brake M/C

Hey List,
Since our supply of Brake M/C looks like it may be going by way of the DODO
bird, has any one seriously tried a replacement.  I mean, since we can use a
Delco or Bosch alternators why not another make of M/C. I did see the web site
where a Nissan was used but it appeared too much of a chore.

So all of you would be auto engineers, try some new things and let us know.
I'm game to try out new things and ideas.
