I just replaced the ring gear (from straight-cut to beveled) which had a couple of short chewed-up sections and occasionally ground its teeth on startup (125+Kmi). The gear on the starter has general wear and a few dings. - Question 1: Should I try to smooth-out (smoothen?) the starter gear or just leave it to adapt itself to the new ring gear? - Question 2: If smoothing is recommended, what's the best method?
