Hello List,
I guess I will chime in here since I am the one who created the 6pack list
and ran it on my computer for over 2 years before asking Mark Bradakis to
host it on his team.net server. I created this list to help others with
their TR6 hobby. I also did it to allow a forum for members of the 6-PACK
Club to communicate and share their ideas and get to know eachother. I did
not create this list for individuals to send jokes, or tell off humor jokes
or even to send small talk..... It was mostly to help eachother with our
cars and kindle friendships though this end.
Since the list was moved to the team.net server, I have acted as the
"coordinator". If individuals were experiencing problems with their
subscriptions either getting on or off the list or digest, I would try my
best and make it happen. I have the ability to manually go into the list
database and make changes.
I also acted as the police and if I felt there were conversations that
crossed the line with the original intent of the list, I would contact the
individual via e-mail (off list) and present my concern. In some cases I
would simply make a direct request. I have only removed one person from
this list in all of these years.
Regarding Jim Swarthout, I beleive Jim to be a great guy with good
intentions. In the past I have had several list subscribers leave the list
because at times, it became to much of a game, and many many messages were
flooding into their mailboxes already. I talked with Jim about this and he
said he was only trying to add life to what he thought was a "dry list". I
made my request to Jim, and he seemed to ease back. I have again asked Jim
to discontinue this practice.
Latley, I have been having some technical problems with the list maintenance
and in my recent communication to Mark Bradakis, I also mentioned my
concerns with what was occuring on this list. This is why Mark sent his
e-mail about cease & desist.
I appreciate Mark and all of his hard work and dedication to the British car
hobby. I also appreciate him allowing us (6pack list & digest) to hold this
forum on his computers.
If you have complaints about Marks comments, I am the one you should be
speaking with. I will ask that everyone please be considerate of
eachother. While the world is a big place, the Internet allows it to be a
small community as well.
Let's remember that this list is here because of all of you.... not just one
person, including myself. As mentioned in my original welcome letter, while
the list was originally intended for 6-PACK club members, it is an open list
for all TR Enthusiasts......... I want to keep it that way and would like
people who have alot to contribute like Jim, Kai, Dick and hundreds of
others to continue with their dedication to our hobby. But, having said
that, I don't want to have this list turned into a promotion site for
someone to sell their products or to take the limelight and not allow others
to feel as if their contribution won't be worthwhile.
That is my two cents. Please abide by the list rules and always be
considerate of others.
If you would like to discuss any issues regarding this list, please feel
free to contact me off list at websixpack@6-pack.org
Thanks,
Mike Brinker
