I think I was mistaken on what tappets are. I thought they were the pieces
that the push rods sat in in the block. I now understand what you were
referring to and was aware of that process.

You'd better read one of the manuals before you start! It's not difficult.
For each of the 12 tappets, you need to rotate the engine so its valve is
fully closed, and the cam is in the "null" position. (The book tells you how.)
Then you adjust the tappet with the lower nut to give exactly (help guys...is
it 0.010) and lock the lower nut with the upper one. Then recheck the
clearance. Then move on to the next one.
