Hi all again,

Thanks for the comments. I like the electronic tach idea to check my tach.
I'll see if I can do something with my Fluke Meter.

I've been a motorhead all my life (raced GP, superbike, and supersport
motorcycles too) and I have to say that I feel that the tachometer is
accurate. It sounds accurate. And from the seat of my pants I'd have to
say that my speed "feels" more or less like what the speedometer is
indicating.

I do have a spare early-TR6 speedo and tachometer and so maybe I'll try
installing them and taking a drive; they're not too hard to remove and
replace. But I like more the idea of taking out the differential. I have
always wanted to remove it to check the frame for wellness and to replace
the oil in it. Or, better yet, maybe I'll take one of my spare diffs (I
know, I'm a Triumph-o-haulic) and open 'er up to check the seals and the
oil, count the teeth on the crown wheel and pinion, and replace the oil.
Then I'll "simply" take the one out of my car and install the spare one. A
30 minute job, right? ! ! ?

I've got synthetic gear oil in the transmission and would think highly of
putting it in the differential. Anybody think that's NOT a good idea?

Thanks again,
Dave Herbert
