I replaced the throttle shaft seals on both carbs. During the installation
process, I used red rubber grease to lube the throttle shaft as I moved them
into place.
After I got them assembled, I noticed that the return springs would not pull
the throttle closed. The seals seem to be sticking to the shaft. I sprayed
them with a bit of silicone spray which seemed to work, but today, they are
still sticking to the shaft.
I've squirted a bit of motor oil around the shafts hoping that I'll get
enough penetration to lube the shafts.
Anybody else run into this? I'd like to get the car running this weekend.
This is such a dumb little problem, I can't believe it is going to hold me
up.
TIA,
Peter
