I just helped one of our members move his seats as far rearward as possible
and we did it this way. At the point where the seat bolts to the track we
made an extension that pushed the seat back further. The metal extension
was made from 1/8" steel, had two holes that bolted to the seat and one hole
that bolted to the track. The distance from the most forward seat hole to
the center of the track hole was 1". The other bracket was 1/2" which
actually twisted the seat so that it had more clearance on the left side
where it once hit.
The driver was more comfortable with the twist than having his right leg rub
the steering wheel. He now has clearance but is still looking for a smaller
steering wheel. Making the simple extensions was much easier than messing
with the way the track mounts to the floor. And if you don't like the
result you can take them out and be back to as designed.
