Tommy----15V is higher than it should be, unless the battery was in the
state of discharge, and is trying to get caught up. However, when this
happened to me, I found the "plug" connection between the (Delco)
alternator and the wiring harness to be faulty. Lower engine speeds
would reduce the charging, as you have found. Apparantly the spade
connector that controls the regulation wasn't making good contact,
allowing it to nearly peg the voltmeter, at speed. Re-making this
connection stopped the overcharge. Worth a try?
