Nick---There are several ways of removing this bolt. The best one being
to use an air gun that can give sharp, quick blasts to the bolt, before
the crank has time to move. 
Another includes extending a breaker bar handle over to where it
contacts something solid, putting the tranny in gear and pushing the car
forward. 

Yet another is the "reverse rope trick" where a cylinder is stuffed with
rope to keep this piston from going over center, as you do the wrenching
on the bolt.

This is not a left-handed thread.
