You are correct on all accounts Bob, I helped Fletcher with the motor. I
think 16#s were taken out of the crankshaft,And it has a really unique
head on it. A motor like this goes over 250 hp with 28mm chokes so just
imagine what it is like with 32s, 34s or 36s. The present owner wants to
sell the motor for 7500.00 because he wants to turn the car into a V8
Tuscan for vintage racing. It would probably slow the car down! Boy! I
wish I had 7500.00, Santa, you know I've been good this year!

It's a TVR2500. Made by TVR in Blackpool, England.
It uses TR6 driveline components (motor, tranny, diff and rear axles).
THe neat thing (and the bad thing) about TVR's is that they are much
more
like a race car than a street car. So some folks don't like them because
they aren't comforatble to drive or they are "too hot" in the summer. I
_love_ them. When you sit in the seat, you "wear" the car and the pedals
are very much like a formula car - very little motion needed to use the
foot controls.
I cannot say with 100% certainty, but this car used to belong to a Scott
Witt from Staunton, VA. If it is that car, here's a couple of tidbits:
1. the motor was a "Fletcher Williams" motor. Lightened crank throws,
Carillo rods - THE WORKS. 200+ HP. Fletcher Williams (for the unitiated)
was the SCCA EP National Champion in either '90 or '91 (not the last
Triumph Nat. Champ in EP, BTW - since '90 there have been two Triumph
Nat.
Champs (Jack Wheeler, TR4A ('91, I think) and Hardy Prentice, TR3 ('95,
I think)).
2. NASCAR front end with custom tubular A-arms
3. Jag rear.
4. Saenz tranny
5. F - A - S - T
The car was recently for sale (maybe it still is) from British Wire
Wheel
in FL somewhere. If it is that car and it still has the Fletcher
Williams
motor, then it is worth whatever the asking price (assuming of course
that
it is the car I think it is). The original owner put _tons_ of $$$ into
the car, perhaps more than $50k. REALLY!
Funny story (I always have a "funny story" - well maybe not funny, but a
story nonetheless).
Scott Witt was friends with another guy in the Staunton/Charlottesville
VA
area, Pete File. Scott decided that he was sick of all the noise and
clunks from the back (sound familiar TR6 owners?). Oh and the broken
gears. See "1" above".
At any rate, Scott decided that the TR6 diff was "out" and yanked it to
put in a 300ZX viscous coupled unit. Pete purchased the diff. for his
_very fine_ AP TR6 (it was AP at the time). The diff. and some other
stuff
went in the deal. Note: Scott had come in _second_ overall at the '97
SCCA
Solo II Nats in AP and it was pretty clear that he really wanted FIRST.
So Scott ripped out the 300ZX setup and put the Jag stuff in (4 wheel
disk
brakes) lots of really kool stuff. At the '98 Solo II Nats, he had some
major suspension issues and didn't do that well.
Scott eventually lost interest in the TVR and put it up for sale. Pete
File decided that his TR6 was too nice to race anymore, so he parted out
the racing stuff and put the car back together mostly stock and sold it.
He bought a Porsche 944! Anyway, the "lucky" recipient of the original
TVR
diff and some other stuff (like an "ally" flywheel and some Revolution
wheels) was - ME.
I never got to drive Scott's car, but I am told by a reliable source
that
it's "scary fast".
Sounds like fun to me!

p.s. the more I look at the pictures from the SEVTR Regional, the more
bummed I am that I missed it. I am really bummed that I didn't make it
for
all the reasons (Kas, other SixPackers, JK, Bill Warner (Gp 44 TR6), the
Witt Car, Vern's "collection")... Khartu would have been right at home
there! Damn!
