Mitch----As near as I can tell, the keyway in the (timing) hub lines up
about at 10 deg. ATDC, when the #1-6 pistons are at TDC. This puts the
pointer at "0" on the timing marks. I verified that "0" on my timing
pulley is correct, by using the "thru-the-sparkplug-hole method". Works
great, once I made an extension to make a sparkplug "reach" longer below
the threads. (Thanks to whoever suggested this means of checking
piston TDC w/o taking off the head.)
So, your concern that your old damper pulley had "spun on the hub" seems
for naught.
