No, I don't think the mounts crack from normal shock. If that was true, you
would see all 4 breaking with some regularity.
What you do see is usually (always in my experience) the front pass. mount
breaks first.
I believe that is due to the original soft mounts allowing too much torque
induced rotation of the diff around the studs, which is absorbed by that
specific mount bracket.
Of course what follows is that other mounts break once the first one fails,
because the diff is 'held back' by them alone once the first failure occurs.
The more substantial poly mounts should be 'sharing' the forces more
equally, prolonging the life of all the brackets.
I use poly on all 4 mounts, and don't notice much additional vibration. I
think a Monza exhaust is 10 times more annoying than any (if any) additional
noise. As one poster noted, if your diff has 'issues' then it might be more
noticeable, but I have had excellent luck.
I would NEVER recommend using the stock front mounts, I don't care how much
vibration is transmitted. At least use use the poly fronts since the
originals aren't adequate IMHO.
