Jim,

I am in the Seattle area.  Years ago, people here hardly ever bothered
buying a car with air conditioning, but now it is very common, though
certainly not as needed as
in your part of the country.  Once one has air conditioning in his daily
driver, even here, one never wants to go without it during the summer.  My
TR is not a daily driver and is used only on days when the top can stay
down, which we are still having this year.  I don't remember a year here of
better weather.

I know what it is like for you as I attended Naval Air boot camp in Memphis
in June and July of 1971, then went to Jacksonville for six months.  The
climate was a shock to a kid from Seattle, especially the fact that it
doesn't cool down all that much at night.
