An old mechanic trick was to paint both sides of a metal headgasket with high quality silver paint, let dry and install as usual. I did this 2 years ago using 2 coats of silver engine paint. Gone many miles with no leakage. This would not be recommended if you're using the latest technologies in head gaskets.
