All, I do not advocate extreme lightening of the (stock) cast-iron flywheel. Cast iron is full of micro-fractures, and if subjected to much much force, will crack, and ultimately disintegrate. Not a good thing in a flywheel rotating at 5000+ rpm. I am sure PRI do a wonderful job, but a reduction program of 58% seems a lot more than other firms who offer lightened flywheels. If there are any metallurgists out there, I would be delighted to know if I am incorrect. YMMV. Shane Ingate in Maryland |
