When last we "spoke" I had purchased a used PDWA purportedly from a '72 or
'73 TR6 thinking it would have a late-style o-ring shuttle. Alas, it
didn't, and brake fluid (or is that fluif? ;-) continued to seep past the
switch. Trips to three different auto parts stores in the Chicago area
(including Pep Boys, which someone recommended) failed to yield any
components I could use to temporarily replace the PDWA until I find a later
style shuttle.
In the meantime, I decided to just get something to plug the switch hole.
At the local hardware store I purchased a 3/8-24 allen set screw and an
o-ring small enough to drop into the switch hole. I put a very small amount
of RTV Blue on the set screw's threads and snugged it up gently. Looks like
it was made for the application. I didn't disassemble the PDWA. The leaky
shuttle is still in there, so I still have a semi-dual-circuit braking
system. This is supposed to be a temporary fix, just so I can safely get
the car to the local mechanic to have some other work done.
I'll let it sit overnight to see if it leaks before attempting to bleed the
brakes. I'm hopeful it won't, but this has been an exercise in futility so
far, so I don't have my hopes up too high.
