Fwd: I Feared The Worst

Personally, I'd be a bit nervous about giving my engine to a regular
mechanic for a rebuild. Better to give it to someone who has
experience rebuilding Triumph engines. There are a few things that are
different on Triumph engines in comparison to your average Ford 302 or
Chevy 350 (care in thrust bearing installation and end float, clearance
in the valve guides, etc). It's really not hard to rebuild a Triumph
engine, but it's important to carefully follow the instructions laid
out in the Triumph factory workshop manual, rather than just going by
instinct which many mechanics may have picked up as they rebuilt tons
of American engines over the years.

Rebuilding a Triumph engine definitely isn't rocket science. I've done
mine twice: I simply strip it down, send it out to get the machining
done, and then reassemble. I use the Triumph factory shop manual as my
guide.
