Hydraulic Lifts

I will be doing some work under my TR6 and have a friend who is letting us 
use his hydraulic lift, (like those at auto service places).  It is the type 
that lifts from the frame not one that the tires fit onto.  I have heard that 
you have to be very careful lifting the TR6 by the frame.  Is there any truth 
to this?  If so, what precautions should be taken?
