Phil----I don't know why your oil canister won't come off the block, but a tool that might help persuade it might be one of those belt strap tools, sold by Sears. They are handy for twisting pipes and such in hard to reach places, and should work well here. I have never found it necessary to replace the rubber O-ring with each filter change. In fact, the one in there now has been in service since 1995, thru more than a dozen oil changes. It still seals without any leakage. Dick '73 |
