When I converted to rear discs on my street car I installed a brake
proportioning valve in the rear circuit. I didn't have to adjust it far
though. I used the same pad compound on the front and rear.
On race cars we use a dual side by side mc setup that can be adjusted during
a race as conditions change.
The stock mc has the same bore diameter for the front and rear circuits, so
I believe balance is achieved by the fact that the rear drum design is less
effective than the front disc system. IMHO! Some racers are using rear prop.
valves because they are cheaper and they have an inherent antilock effect
built in.
