Tim:
Sorry to be so tardy....I read the digests once or twice a week!! I've got
HS6s on my car now, and am very happy with their performance. No flat spots and
fairly easy starting ( the stock choke cable won't reach the front carb). I
believe that the HS8s would require a large amount of TIG welding on the intake
in order to get them to fit. Nick Hanges had HS8s on "Mad Max", and I do
recall that they were a far cry from being a bolt-on installation.
I too, have inquired about fitting SUs to Richard Good's Triple
manifold....eyeballing the imagined set up, the float bowl on the middle carb
would foul the throttle shaft unless a u-shaped crank was fabricated to clear
the bowl. The other option would be to try to find the HIF 6s that have the
float bowl under the carb like the ZS. Joe Curto is a good source of needle
info as a function of engine mods. Hope this helps!!!
