John,
I believe the switches are as follows:
The one on the LH side is for the reverse lights
The one on the RH side is for the seat belt interlock system (used only in
'74 & maybe '75)
The one on the top is for the J type OD.
For the switches on the top ------
If it is in the exact center --- it is operated by the 3rd/4th shaft and is
definitely for the OD.
If it is to the left of center ---- it is operated by the reverse shaft and
is for the reverse lights.
If it is to the right of center ---- it is operated by the 1st/2nd shaft and
is for the OD (A Type).

Subject: Switches on TR6 transmission
| Dear Listers,
|
| Does anyone know the function/purpose of the two switches on the top of
the
| TR6 transmission? It's from a 1974, non-overdrive. Looking from the top,
one
| switch is on the left of the top cover, and the other is on the right of
the
| top cover. There is a third switch, which is for the reverse lights.
