Todd----4,000 rpms should get you to about 85 mph in non-OD fourth gear. It sounds like either the clutch disc is worn out, is picking up oil from somewhere (what?) or for some reason the clutch cover isn't flat against the flywheel. (This can happen if a dowel pin is holding it away) Your finding that it doesn't always happen might point more to oil getting on the disc. Dick T. |
