HI Mark:

I recently purchased a Actron CP7515 timing light at my local NAPA store; 
about $55.  It has a solid feel and is very easy to use.  Just connect the + 
and - connectors to power and ground and clamp the inductive connector 
around the #1 plug wire and you're ready to go.
