That hex bolt is for a grease fitting..At the bottom of the spline is a a
threaded piece with a threaded cup. Undo the cup with a pipe wrench or
similar.

Good afternoon,

I just read Bob Greene's listing about his prop shaft.  Mine is also out and
i didn't even think about lubricating the splines.  Can I assume that the
shaft will come apart by removing the the 1/4" (?) hex head bolt that's in
the shaft near the point where the two pieces are joined?
