Bob---You can set up your '76 engine to operate as an earlier model, if
you wish, and vacuum lines can simply be plugged. The crankcase (via
rocker cover) must be vented, if not to the carbon cannister, then to a
source of your choice. Some use their air filter box. If the car has to
pass any kind of an emissions test in the part of the country where it's
registered, it may not make it through! Otherwise, let your conscience
yada, yada. 

Fuel level control in the float bowl/s is by "needle" valve. The stock
ones have a tapered needle and a matched seat. Grose jets do the same
thing, only with a ball and seat. Grose jets can flow more fuel, (gph)
if this is important to you, as when an engine is highly modified and
can use more fuel under certain conditions. Both styles can cause
problems if dirt is allowed to get to them and stick open (usually the
case,) or closed.  

See what information comes out of the "tech session" that you'll be
attending.

If you need a Posidrive screwdriver n a hurry, just grind a 'flat' on
the tip of an ordinary Philips head screwdriver till it fits the type of
screw head you're working with.
