Hey all,

My car has been running really hot lately, so I bought a new thermostat and am
going to install it to see if that helps (I hope its not the water pump, but it
looks pretty old and rusty...). The radiator hasn't been flushed in the year
and a half since I've owned the car, and I doubt the PO ever did it either. So
I want to do it while the cooling system is open. Before I bought my TR, I
drove a '67 VW (and still do), and it being air cooled, I have never flushed a
radiator before. Can someone give me the basics on how to do it? What's the
difference between a regular flush and a backflush? Also, I have heard that
flushing an old car may be bad - could it loosen big chunks of corrosion inside
the cooling system, and deposit them somewhere in the radiator where they can
get trapped and create blockage?
What is the proper way to dispose of old antifreeze? I want to replace all the
hoses, too, but I'm going to wait a little while to see if TRF is going to
resume manufacturing the green ones.

Thanks,

Ryan
