Dick and Listers: I took a look in the garage this weekend concerning DOT 5 vs. 5.1. DOT 5 is silicone-based and hence synthetic and DOT 5.1 is glycol-based but is also a synthetic according to the label on the Valvoline SynPower bottle. Perhaps, like synthetic blend oil vs fully synthetic oil, the DOT5.1 has a synthetic additive package vs. the fully synthetic base stock silicone DOT 5? Comments?
