Peter,
I had exactly the same problem. When I tried to match the aftermarket inner
fender with the wheel arch there was such a huge gap near the foot well that
I would have had to buy sheet metal to fill in the holes.
I chose to send it back and insist on a British Heritage part. When it came
in it was a perfect fit.
