Hello & a happy new year!

After receiving a used windscreen from someone in southern germany and
having it fitted by professionals just in time for the christmas holidays my
family and I were able to drive a thousand miles to visit friends and
relatives without a problem.

Only one thing (that I already forgot) is a little annoying: During these
(mainly autobahn) rides, when driving between 60-70mph the tacho needle
jumps (or waves) around from 2000-6000rpm. At lower and higher speeds the
tacho reads what it should (i.e. 1000rpm = approx. 25mph in top gear, BW35
auto box).

This phenomenon arised when I replaced most of the ignition parts last
summer, including changing the coil from a 12v Bosch to a 12v Lucas Gold and
cutting out the balance resistor (to which the Bosch coil has been
connected) and the ignition leads to 'high performance' leads.

The tacho is not OE but an aftermarket VDO unit which is mounted to the
passenger sides parcel tray.

Any ideas, what causes this behaviour?

Best regards,
Thorsten
