Hi all,
I'm trying to track down a very specific, irritating and probably
expensive noise in a '77 2500S.
It seems to originate from the gearbox/clutch area, and sounds remarkably
like the horrible squeak you get when a bearing breaks up. It's
intermittent and isn't related to any specific gear, or whether the clutch
is in or out.
So, fair enough, something's broken up and is now doing the rounds in the
bottom of my gearbox, wreaking havoc as it does so. Not good.
My problem is this - I can't get the car far as it is, and I can't find
*anyone* locally that I'd trust to even look at it. So - can anyone
recommend (or even recommend how to find) a decent garage/mechanic in the
Sussex area? Having only just moved here I don't even know the local
scrapyards yet!
'Till then, I'm relegated to driving a Nissan! Yeugh!
